Marla Kitka, formerly of Sitka, died unexpectedly Feb. 15 in Tomah, Wisconsin. She was 58.

Master Gardeners
Answer Questions
Master gardeners will be available to answer questions about gardening in Southeast Alaska during upcoming noon-1 p.m. ‘‘Weedy Wednesdays’’ presentations.
Sessions will include: March 16 ‘‘Spuds 101’’; March 23, ‘‘Seed Starting; March 30, ‘‘Prepping a New Garden’’; and April 6, ‘‘Transplanting.’’
A brief presentation will be given, followed by a panel of master gardeners available to answer questions about the presentation or general gardening. Individuals can submit questions ahead of time to info@seak-mastergardeners.org.

Annual Meeting
Sitka’s Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual membership meeting noon Wednesday, Feb. 23, via Zoom.
It will include a year in review, upcoming calendar of events and a chance for members to offer updates on their businesses.
The board of directors will be announced and a door prize drawn.

Clam Chowder
Sale Saturday
The Sisterhood of St. Michael Cathedral will have a clam chowder and fried bread lunch sale 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19.
Lunches will available to be picked up in the entryway of the Cathedral. Those with donations can contact Cheryl at 907-747-6737.
‘Singing Planet’
To be Presented
Sitka Conservation Society and Encounters North will present a virtual screening of ‘‘The Singing Planet.’’
The film follows anthropologist and storyteller Richard Nelson and author and sound recordist Hank Lentfer through an immersion in wild sounds – birds, bears, bees, wolves, whales and more – and the wild places that give rise to them.
Those interested can RSVP to watch the film Feb. 23-27, with a live Q&A session 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, with Lentfer and filmmaker Liz McKenzie. The recording will be available for viewing through Feb. 27.
