Conservation Society
Sets Annual Meeting
The Sitka Conservation Society will hold its annual meeting 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, downstairs at the Mean Queen.
SCS will give an update on current developments, projects, issues and upcoming events. They will be joined by students from local high schools who will speak about how they are working for Alaska’s future. Members will have the opportunity to return their ballots for officers at the meeting.
SCS staff and board have invited all to the evening of food and idea sharing. For information call 747-7509.

Sale on Tap
The White Elephant Shop and Children’s store is having a half-price sale on yellow tag items, games, puzzles, toys, winter hats and scarves.
Books, with the exception of Alaskan books, will be $1 a bag.
Store hours are noon-3 p.m. Thursday and Saturday, and 6-8 p.m. Monday.
Volunteers Sought
For Philippines Event
Those interested in helping with plans for the “Celebrate the Philippines” community event can attend a meeting 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Keet Gooshi Heen library.
The committee is looking for expertise, opinions and ideas as they prepare for the event for Sitka families. Call Kari at 752-7323 with questions, to volunteer, or to run an activity.

The public is invited to “Coffee Chat” with the Alaska Native Brotherhood Grand President Heather J. Gurko and the Alaska Native Sisterhood Grand President Paulette M. Moreno this week.
