ANS to Meet

Alaska Native Sisterhood Camp 4 will gather for a regular business meeting 5:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Swan Lake Terrace senior housing, 414 Hollywood Way,,in the commons area.

The meeting is open to the public. For information call Karen at 747-7803.

 

BIHA Board

Meets Feb. 22

Baranof Island Housing Authority’s monthly board of commissioners meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Harrigan Centennial Hall.

A remote meeting option is also available. Those wishing to attend or participate may submit an email request to info@bihasitka.org before noon on Feb. 22, or call BIHA at 907-747-5088 for assistance.

 

ATA to Meet

In Sitka Feb. 28

Alaska Trollers Association will meet 1 p.m. Feb. 28 at Centennial Hall in Room 1.

Amy Daugherty, executive director of ATA, will attend.

The group will discuss the Wild Fish Conservancy lawsuit update and the Pacific Salmon Treaty.

SAIL Plans

Ski Movie Night

The public is invited to join Southeast Alaska Independent Living to view four short films 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at Mean Queen.

Ski Movie Night will include: ‘‘The Approach 2,’’ ‘‘Precious Leader Woman,’’ ‘‘Kings and Queens Corbets’’ and excerpts from the Northern Aspects Ski Festival featuring adaptive snowsports.

The event is “pay what you can.” Donations are accepted, and will benefit ORCA, which is SAIL Sitka’s adaptive recreation program for seniors and people who experience disabilities.

 

Dessert Auction

Offered by SAFV

Sitkans Against Family Violence’s online dessert auction is open through 1 p.m. Feb. 26.

To support SAFV with a bid, access the auction site at safv.org by clicking the button “View and Bid on Desserts.” Click on the “Information on Bidding” link.

Credit card information is requested on the first bid. Individuals will be notified when they are outbid or won. Winners are asked to pick up desserts at the shelter (call 907-747-3370 for directions) or request a delivery by leaving a message at 907-738-0161.

To donate a dessert, click the button “Register a Dessert” and submit details of the dessert by Friday, Feb. 24.

Alaska Day Festival

Panel Meets Weds.

The Alaska Day Festival planning committee will meet 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Centennial Hall.

The public is welcome. 

 

Emblem Club

Meets Feb. 23

Sitka Emblem Club 142 will hold a social meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Sitka Elks Lodge.

A dinner honoring past presidents, initiation and the holiday party with a white elephant gift exchange are planned. Members are invited to attend.

 

BHV Annual

Board to Meet

Brave Heart Volunteers will hold its annual board meeting 5:30 p.m.  Wednesday at the Pioneers Home Manager’s House.

The group will elect executive board members. The public is invited to attend. A Zoom option is available.  Email board@braveheartvolunteers.org with questions.

 

Ash Wednesday

At St. Gregory’s

Ash Wednesday services will be held at 12:05 p.m. and 6 p.m. at St. Gregory’s Catholic church.

Stations of the Cross will be held 6 p.m. every Friday for six weeks, through Good Friday.
