Quilter’s Art
Displayed at
Centennial Hall
Works by quilt artist Kim Hunter are being displayed at Centennial Hall, said exhibit organizer Kathleen McCrossin.
‘‘It was in 1990 here in Sitka that I discovered the wonderful world of quilting,’’ Hunter said. ‘‘Quilting really brought out the creative inner being in me.’’
It also introduced Hunter to ‘‘an incredible group of women of all ages and walks of life.’’
‘‘These friendships keep growing, and together we share quilting and also our joys and concerns of everyday life,’’ she said.
Hunter began making small wall hangings and has over the years made many quilts of all sizes.
‘‘I always machine piece, not hand piece, and I have machine quilted most, hand-quilted a few,’’ she said. ‘‘The fabrics and patterns are very diverse and cover all subject matters. Most of my quilts were made with a specific person in mind or to celebrate life’s milestones. I plan on quilting for years to come.’’
The show is open to the public when Centennial Hall is open.
