A 44-foot Sitka fishing boat caught fire Tuesday afternoon at Eliason Harbor, sustaining an estimated $50,000 in damage. No one was injured, Sitka Fire Department said.
The F/V Seanna, owned by Clay Eells, was tied up at the Eliason transient float when the fire hall was called, at 4:16 p.m. Firefighters, joined by some bystanders, doused the flames in an hour and 19 minutes, SFD engineer Jenny Klejka said.
The fire appeared to have started in the cabin, around the stove area, Fire Chief Dave Miller said. A department report will be issued later.
