High Winds Expected Today

Wind gusting as high as 60 mph accompanied by heavy rain is forecast from 6 p.m. tonight through 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sitkans are being warned.

The National Weather Service said winds are expected to be from 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, and heavy rain may turn to snow by Wednesday night.

The City is encouraging citizens to take precautions, including fastening down mooring lines, and securing loose outdoor objects.
