House Panel Takes Testimony On SMHS Cuts

    The Alaska House Transportation Committee will continue to take testimony on cuts to the Alaska Marine Highway System 1:30-3 p.m. Thursday, March 14.
    Individuals can sign up to testify at the Sitka Legislative Information Office after 1 p.m. The committee also has decided to accept written testimony sent to House.Transportation@akleg.gov.
    Those with questions can call the Sitka LIO at 747-6276.
    Tuesday’s testimony on the marine highway budget cuts broke records for the statewide Legislative Information Office, Sitka LIO said. The afternoon session’s 294 participants was the highest ever. Attending in person were 211 people, and the evening session drew 190 participants with 115 going to their LIO.
