‘12th Man’ Photo

Shoot on Jan. 4

The ‘‘Sitka 12th Man’’ photo shoot for Seattle Seahawks fans will be 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, under the O’Connell Bridge. All are invited.

‘‘Let’s make this the biggest turnout ever to show our loyal support as the Seahawks head into the playoffs again,’’ organizer Tim Shobe said.

‘‘Please join all other Seahawks fans of Sitka by showing your blue and green colors for our fifth Sitka 12th Man photo by wearing jerseys, waving flags, holding signs and banners. Dress up your dog. Tell your friends. Bring your Seahawks spirit.’’

Shobe, the photographer for the event,  said the photo will be taken at exactly 11 a.m.

 

Unitarians Meet

Dave Turcott will take a look at some of history’s more famous predictions and invite participants to make their own predictions about the new year at this week’s meeting of the Sitka Unitarian Fellowship.

Gathering begins at 10:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 10:45 a.m. Soup and bread follow at noon. The Fellowship Hall is located at 408 Marine Street, with parking behind off Spruce Street. All are invited to attend.  For information, call 747-3702. 

 

Mini Career Fair

In the spirit of service and in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day,  the public is invited to join the Sitka AmeriCorps Program in partnership with Youth Advocates of Sitka for an afternoon of exploring pathways to success after high school.

The mini career fair will be held noon-4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at the Cloud. Food and prizes will be available.

Participants can visit with local businesspeople, tradespeople and other Sitkans who have created their own paths to success.

 

Twelfth Night

Celebration On

St. Peter’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church invites the community to its annual Twelfth Night potluck and Christmas Hymn sing 5 p.m. Jan. 5 to celebrate the end of the Christmas season.

The gathering will be in the See House, behind the church.

A special outreach in-gathering is planned at the event for the Homeless Coalition Laundry and Shower Project. Some suggested items to take include laundry soap pods, sweatpants and money for the laundry machines and showers. For more information call 747-3977.
