Music Festival

Vocalist Performs

The Sitka Music Festival will present virtuoso vocalist Shelly Watson for a virtual concert 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14.

Described by the New York Times as “A rambunctious, over-the-top soprano of considerable charm,” Watson will host an interactive evening of entertainment that she has curated especially for the Sitka Festival.

The musical journey will travel from Puccini to Cole Porter through arias, art songs and jazz, plus stories about Watson’s unusual path to classical music and how her approach inspired new programs at Juilliard.

The event will be live-streamed  through the festival’s various Internet channels, and the audience will be able to communicate directly with Shelly during the actual performance. The show will also be recorded and available for viewing through Sunday, Jan 17.

Individuals can learn more about the concert at sitkamusicfestival.org.
