Panel to Meet
The Sitka Cycling Club steering committee will meet noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, in the Gus Adams reading room at the Sitka Public Library.

ANB to Meet
Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp 1 will meet 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at the ANB Founders Hall.
Members are being encouraged to attend for the election of new officers. Individuals can attend for persons to be heard.

Holly Churchill
At SJ Museum
An informal presentation by Holly Churchill on her Haida weaving and artwork by her UAS students will be presented 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Sheldon Jackson Museum.
The class will present its basketry and share their experiences of learning from Churchill. No admission will be charged and attendees will have an opportunity to see the current Artifact of the Month, the recently acquired spruce root hat by Delores Churchill, who is Holly Churchill’s mother.

Taize Prayer
Services on Tap
Taize prayer services will be held 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays Jan. 8-Feb. 19 at St. Peter’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church.
All are invited to attend the mid-week contemplative service of candlelight, prayer, song and silence.

At White E Shop
All books, except Alaskana, are on sale for $1 a bag at the Sitka White Elephant Shop main store this week.
In the children’s store, board books will be three for $1.
Store hours are 6-8 p.m. Monday, and noon-3 p.m. Thursday and Saturday.
Sacred Harp
Sing on Sunday
All are invited to learn to sing four-part a capella harmony in an American tradition 3:30-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at the Pioneers Home Chapel.
Beginners and listeners are welcome. Singing is from the red Denson book, and loaner books are available. For information call Sara at 747-2915.
‘Cool Hand Luke’
Screening on Tap
Sitka Public Library will show a free screening of “Cool Hand Luke” 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, as part of its Page to Screen film series.

Group to Meet
The Women’s Book Group will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Sitka Pioneers Home in room 331 to discuss ‘‘The Gilded Years’’ by Karin Tanabe.

Chamber to Meet
Sitka School District Superintendent Mary Wegner and School Board member Amy Morrison will present the program noon Wednesday at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Westmark Sitka.
They will present the ‘‘Leave Your Print’’ challenge. The online challenge is part of the school district’s strategic planning process. The school district is using an online platform to gather ideas from the community about how to better serve students and families. Top ideas will be incorporated into the district’s strategic plan and help shape education for the next three to five years.
Teen Advisory
Board to Meet
Sitka Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board will meet 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at the library. Teens can join the board. TAB members will share ideas about library programs, the teen area and lab and also about books.

Winter Maker Club
Offered to Youths
Sitka Public Library invites youths, ages 8 to 10 years, to participate in the free Winter Maker Club program 3:45-4:45 p.m. Jan. 14, 21 and 28.
Participants will explore how to use 3D pens to draw in the air or on a pattern to make 3D objects of their own. Materials are provided. Registration is required. There are 12 spots available for each session.
