Improv Comedy

Event Jan. 17-18

Sitka Fine Arts Camp will present two nights of improv comedy 7 p.m. Jan. 17-18 at the Odess Theater on the SJ Campus.

The event will feature Chicago-based improv artist Cassidy Russell, Los Angeles-based improv artist Michael Yichao, Atlanta-based improv artist Vincent Migliore, and Sitka’s  Zeke Blackwell.

The show contains mature content. Tickets are $20 general and $15 for youths and are available in advance at Old Harbor Books or at www.fineartscamp.org/shows. 

 

Annual Meeting

Ahead for STA

Sitka Tribe of Alaska will hold its annual meeting 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Centennial Hall.

It will include a full dinner, tribal reports, entertainment and door prizes.

 

Hunter Education

Class is Offered

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will offer a basic hunter education class in Sitka designed for students ages 11 and older.

It will run 6-9 p.m. Friday, March 6, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Sitka Sportsman’s Association, 5211 Halibut Point Road. Students must attend both days.

An independent study packet must be completed prior to the first day of class. To register, contact the Sitka ADF&G office at 747-5449.

 

Baby Raven Reads

Event is Saturday

Alaska Native families with children up to age 5 are invited to Baby Raven Reads: Sitka 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Sitka Head Start.

The theme ‘‘Northwest Coast Art and Animals’’ includes storytelling, songs and other cultural and literacy activities. Families can enroll at the event.
