The RIDE Stops

Transit Service

 

 

The RIDE, Sitka’s public transit service, has canceled its bus routes beginning Thursday, July 22. Buses will be out of service until further notice.

Dies at Age 82

Shirley Marie Hughes, 82, died at home this morning.

 

An obituary will be published later in the Sentinel.

 

Methodist Church

Services Online

The United Methodist Church is suspending in-person service until further notice to contribute in the control of COVID-19 in Sitka. 

A worship gathering is online via Facebook at the United Methodist Church of Sitka.

Prayer meetings are 9 a.m. Wednesdays and inter-faith reflective Bible study at 9:30 a.m. is over Zoom. 

Those who have questions can contact Pastor Bennie Grace Nabua at 747-8775 or email umc@umcsitka.com. Those who wish to be prayed over on the phone are asked to leave a message and the call will be returned.

 

BIHA Board Meets

Baranof Island Housing Authority  board of commissioners meeting will be held 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, via Zoom.

COVID Testing

Now Available

SEARHC has consolidated community testing and now provides drive-through/walk-through testing 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. every day across the street from Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center’s main entrance.

‘‘COVID cases are on the rise in our community,’’ SEAHC said. ‘‘Be safe, Sitka. Wear a face mask in public, practice physical distancing, wash your hands frequently, get vaccinated and get a test when you need one.’’

No appointment is needed for the free test.
