Kari Lundgren, PA-C, Again
At Behavioral Health Clinic
Behavioral Health Specialist Kari Lundgren, PA-C, has re-joined the team at the Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic. She is seeing patients of all ages as part of the consortium’s efforts to meet the growing need for mental and behavioral health services in the region.
Lundgren will provide psychiatric evaluations for adolescents, adults and elders in the Sitka area. She can prescribe medications and assist with medication management.
She has 23 years of clinical experience working with SEARHC. She has served as CHAP program staff, the assistant medical director for CHS, a Mt. Edgecumbe High School student health center clinician and the psychiatric advanced practice provider at Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic (Haa Toowoo Naakw Hit).
Lundgren graduated from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis St. Paul, with a bachelor of science degree in education. She earned her physician assistant degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and NCCPA (National Commission On Certification Of Physician Assistants) CAQ (Certificate of Added Qualifications) certification in psychiatry.
Professional interests include helping patients with addiction and substance-related issues, as well as providing patients a supportive space for trauma-informed care. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, listening to music and flying float planes.

Group Bike Ride

Local cyclists are invited to a group ride 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 19. Riders will gather at the Salty Spoke Bike Co-op located behind the Hames Center on the SJ Campus.
The final route will be selected by participants; however, the tentative plan is ride on the multi-use trail along Sawmill Creek Road to Thimbleberry trail and then up to Heart Lake for optional swimming.
The event will have door prizes, including a gift card to the Yellow Jersey Cycle shop, a bicycle benefits sticker, and a new high visibility helmet.

Party Saturday
The Sitka Maritime Heritage Society is holding a volunteer work party to rebuild a wall on the Japonski Island Boatshop, 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 19.
Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome and should take gloves and tools if they have them. Individuals can come for part or all of the time. Open House Set
At Boatshop
The public can view the recent work on the Japonski Island Boatshop at an open house 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 26.
Information on methods of historic preservation, and artifacts and photos, will be on view. Coffee and snacks will be available.

Wildlife Cruise
Departs July 4
The Sitka Maritime Heritage Society is offering a history and wildlife cruise on Sunday, July 4, with departure at 3:45 p.m. and return at approximately 6:15 p.m.
Tickets are $65 for adults and $40 for ages 12 and younger. Go to sitkamaritime.org to buy tickets on line, which can be picked up at the boat before departure. Journaling Club
Offered to Youths
Sitka Public Library will offer an art and writing journaling club for tweens and teens. Sessions will be for one hour, once a month, beginning 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 25.
Participants will learn and reflect about Anne Frank’s diary, and journal their own thoughts, art and ideas.
Frank was born 92 years ago in Frankfurt, Germany. Her writings both showcase the hopeful spirit of a young girl and the horrors of World War II.

Southeast Alaska Tribal Ocean Research has issued an advisory warning that all species of shellfish in the Starrigavan North area may have paralytic shellfish toxins levels above the FDA regulatory limit of 80 μg/100 g.
