Spring Troll
Openings Listed
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has issued details of the commercial spring troll fishery.
Sitka area spring troll openings are:
Western Channel June 22; Redoubt Bay June 23-24; Goddard June 24-25; West Crawfish Inlet June 25-26; Sitka Sound June 20-30; and Salisbury Sound June 20-30.
The department said this is the last spring troll advisory of the season. Plans for the first summer Chinook salmon retention period will be issued this week.
Spring troll harvest must be offloaded prior to participating in the summer troll fishery, the department said.

Tlingit Language
Course Offered
A free Tlingit language online course is being offered through the Outer Coast summer seminar 7-8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 29-July 31.
The class, led by X’unei Lance Twitchell, is open to all levels. Twitchell is UAS associate professor of Alaska Native languages.

Meeting to Follow
Five candidates have applied for the open seat on the Sitka School Board, the Sitka School District has announced.
Blossom Twitchell, Mitch Mork, Mary Suminski, Andrew Hames and Cathleen Pook will be interviewed at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, in the Sitka High School commons.
The public is invited to send input to the School Board at district@sitkaschools.org. The new board member will be selected and appointed during the regular School Board meeting that follows at 6 p.m.
SAFV Board Meets
The board of Sitkans Against Family Violence will meet online 4:30 p.m. June 29.
