Sitkan is Named

Presidential Scholar

Connor G. Buxton of Sitka, a senior majoring in mathematics, was named a Presidential Scholar for the spring 2021 semester at Clarkson University, Potsdam, New York.

Presidential Scholars must achieve a minimum 3.80 grade-point average and carry at least 14 credit hours.

As a private, national research university, Clarkson is a leader in technological education and sustainable economic development through teaching, scholarship, research and innovation.

Connor is the son of Ken and Kelly Buxton.

 

Little Free Library

Grand Opening On

The grand opening celebration of the Little Free Library is slated 9 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at 827 Pherson Street.

All are invited to take a book to donate. Attendees will receive a cupcake and a new book.

Meets June 10

Sitka Emblem Club 142 will hold a business meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at the Sitka Elks Lodge.

 

Brave Heart

At Porch Fest

Brave Heart Volunteers is offering an opportunity for individuals to ‘‘Wear Your Heart’’ this weekend during the Porch Fest event.

 

Sweatshirts, T-shirts and mugs with the new Brave Heart Volunteers logo, designed by Jerrod Galanin, will be available 2-3 p.m.

Saturday at the Crescent Harbor shelter. The Brave Heart Band will be playing.
