Chamber to Meet

Greater Sitka Arts Council Director Amelia Mosher will speak at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon noon Wednesday at Westmark Sitka.

She is currently working on this year’s Wearable Art Show, set 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Centennial Hall.

Chamber luncheons are open to the public.

 

White E Shop

Sale is Tonight

The White Elephant Shop will have a blue tag and book sale 6-8 p.m. tonight and noon-3 p.m. Thursday. All blue tag items and books will be half-price in both stores. 

 

Fiber Friends Meet

Fiber Friends will meet noon-2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, in the Gus Adams room at Sitka Public Library.

Weavers, spinners, dyers and all others who work with fibers are welcome. For information contact Alice at 747-3931.

 

Campaign Finance

Laws Discussed

A livestream of Jeff Clements, president of American Promise and author of ‘‘Corporations Are Not People: Reclaiming Democracy From Big Money & Global Corporations,’’ will be 6 p.m. March 20 at https://wwwfacebook.com/events/390598328424510/?ti=clAk. Supreme Court Justice Bud Carpeneti will moderate a discussion on Alaska campaign finance law and proposals for a 28th Amendment to overturn Citizens United.

The live event in Anchorage is sponsored by the Anchorage League of Women Voters, American Promise, Alaska Common Ground and Move to Amend.

 

Rainy Day Bazaar

Tables Available

The U.S. Coast Guard Spouses’ and Women’s Association will have its annual Rainy Day Bazaar 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Centennial Hall.

Food Safety

Training Listed

Food safety management training will take place by videoconference April 2 in seven Alaska communities, including Sitka.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will offer the workshop from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

State regulations require that all food establishments have at least one certified food protection manager to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.

March 20 is the deadline to sign up and receive a study guide before the class. Registration, locations and more information are available at http://bit.ly/cesCFPM. St. Patrick’s Day

Dinner at Legion

The American Legion Auxiliary will host a St. Patrick’s Day dinner fundraiser 5 p.m. until sold out on March 17 at the American Legion Hall.

The cost is $13 a plate of corned beef and the works, along with a pick of assorted desserts.

 

The event is for members and invited guests. Non-members can be signed in.
