Baby Boy Guevin

Arlo Anthony Havens Guevin was born 7:50 a.m. March 17 at Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula, Monterey, California.

At birth, the infant weighed 5 pounds, 8.5 ounces, and was 18 inches long.

Parents are Lauren Havens and Tristan Guevin, formerly of Sitka, and currently of Monterey.

The mom is a nonprofit administrator, and the dad works for Sitka Tribe of Alaska. (Arlo’s middle name, Anthony, honors his late grandpa, Tony Guevin.)

This is the couple’s first child.

Grandparents are Cindy Litman of Sitka, and Lyle Havens and Sam Havens of Davis, Calif.

On COVID-19

The city has created a website, and telephone line, in response to COVID-19 outbreak questions.

To access, visit www.cityofsitka.com and click “City of Sitka COVID-19 Information Center” on the home page.

To access a Public Information Officer telephone line, monitored 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays, dial 747-1899.

E-mails also may be sent to pio@cityofsitka.org.

The city is working closely with local, state and federal partners to respond to the rapidly-evolving outbreak of COVID-19, a respiratory illness, a press release from the city said.

The webpage has detailed information on COVID-19 and the effects on the community. 

 

Subsistence Board

Sets Teleconference

The Federal Subsistence Board will meet via teleconference only on April 20-23 to consider proposed changes to federal subsistence hunting and trapping regulations for the 2020-2022 regulatory years, and to discuss other subsistence-related topics.

The regulatory proposals may be viewed at www.doi.gov/subsistence/proposal/current.

F&G Panel Meets

By Teleconference

The Sitka Fish and Game Advisory Committee will hold a public meeting via teleconference 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, due to the COVID-19 health emergency.

Call 1-800-504-8071 and use Access Code 4654046.

 The agenda will include potential proposals for regulatory changes being considered by the Alaska Board of Fisheries with topics including shrimp, king salmon, non-guided halibut, and crab issues. Other business may be included.

The Sitka Advisory Committee invites public comment from self-guided boat rental owners, commercial Dungeness crab permit holders, and sport crab users for the Sitka area.
