Spelling Bee
On March 22
Sitka Public Library and Sitka Friends of the Library will host the annual Sitka Adult Spelling Bee 7 p.m. on March 22 at Centennial Hall.
Teams of one or two will participate. In a team of two, one may be under age 18.
Prizes will be awarded and include: gift certificates from local businesses of $100 for first place; second, $50; and third, $25.
Masks and social distancing will be required. Each team member will pay a $20 entry fee, with funds to go to the 2023 100th Anniversary of the Sitka Public Library celebration and events, to include guest authors, workshops and other activities.

Sitka Sportsman’s
Members to Meet
Sitka Sportsman’s Association will hold a membership meeting as part of its March 21 board meeting, 7 p.m. March 21, at 5211 Halibut Point Road.
The purpose of the membership meeting is to consider a proposal to change and update SSA’s current Articles of Incorporation to modify the “purpose” of the organization to reflect its current purpose. The Articles of Incorporation can only be changed by a vote of the membership which requires membership attendance, SSA said.
STA Announces
New Scholarship
Sitka Tribe of Alaska announces a new higher education scholarship.
The application deadline for graduating high school students or new, first-time applicants is April 1.
A May 1 application deadline has been established for returning and continuing scholarship applicants.

Emblem Club
Meeting Slated
Sitka Emblem Club will hold a social meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the Sitka Elks Lodge.
State President Ramona Mooney will join the meeting.
Library Teen
Board to Meet
Sitka Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board will meet in-person at the library 5 p.m. Friday, March 25.
Ages 13-19 can join the board. TAB members will share ideas about library programs, books and other subjects.
