Card of Thanks

The  children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren of the late Grace K. Larsen of Sitka would like to express a huge thank you to the many people who provided and showed support to the family. To all of our Mom’s friends, family, extended  family.  For all the love and caring from everyone that we felt, the love that our Mom touched were  so many. It  meant a lot to us “Larsen family.”

Thank you to everyone  who has donated cash, also through Go Fund Me and Venmo.

Many, many, many huge thank yous for Kathy for being right there with us and helped in many ways.

Thank you to all who brought by food for us, who hung out with us and guided us, cooked for us, helped us with the support we all needed.

Thank you to Alaska Native Sisterhood for the beautiful service for our Mom, also for letting us sing our Mom’s favorite song “Amazing Grace,” one of her many favorite songs.

Thank you to Father Ishmael for a beautiful church service and choir also.

Thank you to the SEARHC doctors, nurses, Chief of the Fire Department and crew, Police Chief Baty, Trudy at Prewitt Funeral Home. I don’t want to leave anyone out. Many, many, many thank yous to all who loved and cared for our Mom.

Thank you to the staff at SEARHC for letting us kids have that last walk with our Mom from her room to the elevator. That meant so much for us. I told the kids, Mom gave birth to all of us seven kids in this hospital, we will walk our last walk with her.

I am sorry if I left anyone out; it’s not my intentions.

Thank you to Leah and Jackson, Leah for making the video of our Mom and playing the piano, Jackson for helping with the obituary,  thank you for your patience with me. I’m sorry if I left anyone out, it wasn’t my intentions at all. I was in shock and we all did the best we could. Thank you to my siblings for sticking together  and keeping it all positive. You all did amazing,  I’m very  proud of you all.

Now I know why our Mom always said “love my children, grandchildren  and great-grandchildren.’’ Family is everything.

We are going to miss our Mom so much. Endless thank you to all.

Boys Run I toowú klatseen is an after-school program that instills healthy relationships and lifestyle skills in boys through running and other fun activities. The program, now in its seventh season in Sitka, incorporates cultural activities that honor Southeast Alaska traditional tribal values. Thirty third- through fifth-grade boys participate twice-weekly at Keet Gooshi Heen elementary school.

Last week’s focus at Boys Run was on traditional values; this week, Boys Run participants focused on physical health and wellness and working together. Boys were taught about the benefits of choosing to eat balanced meals building each other up.

During practice, boys were asked what it means to show respect for themselves and their bodies. Here’s what they had to say:

–“Go outside!”

–“Eat vegetables and fruit!”

–“Always be nice to yourself!”

–“Try to eat everything at dinner!”

Throughout this season, Boys Run will provide the Sitka community with updates on the program. We also hope to give mentors and parents an opportunity to pass on skills

from Boys Run to the children in their life.

Consider using these conversation starters:

–What is one specific thing that you are going to do this week to take care of yourself?

–What are some ways that we hold each other up?

–Why do people work in teams?

The annual Boys Run I toowú klatseen 5K will be on Saturday, May 14, and all are invited. Keep an eye out for more information as the date approaches. Boys Run is sponsored by the Pathways Coalition. Call 747-3493 or email bolesek@safv.org for more information.
