Unitarians Present

Writers Read Event

Sitka Unitarians will present a “Writers Read” program on  Sunday, March 12.

Twice a year local writers join in to share their work, prose, poetry and, sometimes, written works by others.

Members who wish to read may contact Jan Steinbright,  jsteinbright@gmail.com, to get on the schedule.

The gathering is at 10:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 10:45. The hall is at 408 Marine Street with parking off Spruce Street. All are welcome.

 

Elks Benefit Event

For Salvation Army

A fundraising dinner and dessert auction for the Sitka Salvation Army will be held 5 p.m. March 19 at the Sitka Elks Lodge.

Burgers and fries will be served. It is open to Elks members and invited guests. Attendees are asked to take a non-perishable food item to donate to the Salvation Army. 

 

BHV to Hold

Online Auction

Brave Heart Volunteers is hosting an online auction fundraiser. Bidding starts 8 a.m. March 25 and ends 6 p.m. April 5.

Auction items include three Alaskan getaways: an eight-night “Inside Passage Sojourn” for two on Alaskan Dream Cruises; two round-trip tickets on Alaska Seaplanes; and a one-night stay for four guests at the Stone Lantern House from Sitka Travel.

Sitka CLT Plans

March 20 Meeting

The Sitka Community Land Trust will meet 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 20, at the Hames corporate office conference room at 208 Lake Street, Suite B.

The public is encouraged to attend. The SCLT is a non-profit organization that relies on community support and participation. For information, contact JJ Carlson at 907-738-4190.
