Masked Up

MASKED UP — Baranof’s statue in front of Centennial Hall wears a colorful face mask today, making him look like many other Sitkans – and providing an example for a Greater Sitka Face Mask Design contest, organized by Jeff Budd of Sitka’s longtime Wearable Arts contest and sponsored by the Daily Sitka Sentinel. Rules and signup for the contest, which is being launched today, are in a box on page 4 of today’s paper, and also can be found at sitkasentinel.com and the facebook page. As Budd says in the box, the contest is “for the fun of it, to share with others, and to encourage the use of masks in public.” Entries are to be sent to photo@sitkasentinel.com and are due by 5 p.m. May 1.
