At press time today, former Sitka fire chief Dave Miller became the second candidate to file to run for Assembly in the October municipal election.
The filing deadline is 5 p.m. Friday.
Two seats are open on both the Assembly and the School Board. The election is October 5.
Incumbent Kevin Mosher has filed for Assembly; and incumbent Amy Morrison has filed for School Board.
An interview with Miller will appear in Thursday’s Sentinel.
Those filing for Assembly must be qualified Sitka voters and have resided continuously in the municipality during the 12 months immediately before the election in order to run. Candidates for School Board must be qualified Sitka voters in the municipality for 30 days immediately before the election.
Those interested in filing are asked to contact the city clerk at 747-1811 or 747-1826 to schedule an appointment to pick up the packet and receive instructions.
