To Meet Nov. 15

The Sitka Community Land Trust will meet 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, on Zoom.

Pioneers Home

Auxiliary to Meet

The Sitka Pioneers Home Auxiliary will meet on Zoom 2 p.m. Nov. 12.

Members will receive the link in an email. Non-members can call Kathryn at (907) 747-8825 and leave name and phone number.

The auxiliary’s mission is to assist in furthering the well-being of the residents and to provide a means by which persons and organizations may contribute money, time or services.

 

Maritime Grind

Offered Virtually

The virtual Maritime Grind at Sitka Whalefest will be live-streamed 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6. The marine-themed variety show features music and dance with local performers in a virtual setting. Special guest Don Sineti from Connecticut will open the show with a traditional sea shanty.

Register for the free event by going to sitkawhalefest.org and click on “Maritime Grind” to sign up for an ‘‘access pass.’’ Be sure to register by 5 p.m. on Nov. 5. The registration link also may be accessed on Sitka Monthly Grind’s Facebook page.

The Maritime Grind is co-hosted by Sitka Whalefest and Greater Sitka Arts Council. Those with questions about accessing the show can call Jeanne at 907-738-8083.

 

COVID Booster

Shots Available

Individuals who received a Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, and are in the following groups, are eligible for a booster shot at six months or more after their last dose. 

The eligible groups are: 65 years and older; ages 18 and older who live in long-term care settings; ages 18 and older who have underlying medical conditions; ages 18 and older who work or live in high-risk settings.

Booster shots also are recommend-ed for those who are 18 and older who were vaccinated two or more months ago with the Johnson & JohnsonCOVID-19 vaccine. Both Harry Race Pharmacy and SEARHC are offering clinics for COVID-19 vaccines and flu shots.

4-H Club Plans

Storytelling Series

The public can join Sitka Spruce Tips 4-H Club to work on storytelling and public speaking skills in part two of the fall storytelling series.

Topics this month include storytelling through art, local news and Thanksgiving/gratitude.

Stories will be told around a bonfire at the last session. The group will meet 3-4:30 p.m. Nov. 8, 15 and 22 at various locations. It is open to ages 5-18. Contact emily@sitkawild.org for 4-H registration and information.
