Fundraiser Dec. 3

For Kiks.adi Point

House Restoration

A restoration fundraiser dinner for the Kiks.adi Point House will be 6:30-11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Odess Theater in Allen Hall on the SJ Campus.

It will be a seafood dinner with guest chef Amara Enciso of Jorgensen House. Live music will be provided by visiting band Meridon and the Prime Cuts.

Both a silent and live auction are planned, featuring Dale DeArmond prints and Native art.

A no-host bar will be offered by Mean Queen, Harbor Mountain Brewing Company and Port Chilkoot Distillery.

The Juno Party Animals booth will help ‘‘get you glitzy, glam and photo-op ready,’’ organizers said.

The event is co-hosted by Sealaska and supported by Alaska Seaplanes, Sitka Tribe of Alaska, Central Council of Tlingit and Haida, Harbor Mountain Brewing, Port Chilcoot Distillery, Mean Queen and Sitka Sound Seafoods.

 

Moose Lodge

Updates Given

Sitka Moose and Women of the Moose have announced their December schedules.

Lodge meetings are Dec. 14 and 28. Members are being encouraged to attend. Women of the Moose will hold its Christmas gathering 10 a.m. Dec. 17. Attendees are asked to take snacks.

The annual children’s Christmas party will be 1:30 p.m. Dec. 11 upstairs. Families will be served lunch. Parents should register their children, through high school, for gifts at the lodge. Registration is open through 8 p.m. Dec. 8.

On Christmas Eve the lodge will close at 4:30 p.m. for the officers and staff holiday party. Any members with questions can stop by the lodge or call.

 

Tree-Lighting Set

On Lincoln Street

The Chamber of Commerce will host Light-Up Lincoln Street 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Totem Square.

The tree-lighting ceremony will include hot cocoa, caroling and guest speakers.

 

Holiday Lights

Event Planned

Those who have decorated for the holidays can submit their address to the Chamber’s Holiday Lights Map before Dec. 20 for a chance to win prizes.

Homeless Coalition

Meeting Dec. 7

The Sitka Homeless Coalition will have its annual meeting 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Sheet’ká Ḵwáan Naa Kahídi.

Supporters and members of the public can join. The first 90 people to arrive will receive a complimentary meal prepared by BEAK Chef Renee Trafton with fish donated by Seafood Producers Cooperative.

The event will feature a silent auction, plans for the Hítx’i Sáani cabin community, a live performance from Sitka Ukulele 100, and a special presentation on the history and plan to end homelessness in Sitka with on-going community support.

At St. Peter’s

St. Peter’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church will hold a contemplative prayer service 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 30-Dec. 21, at the church.

The quiet service, will be a time for prayer, silence and remembering loved ones during the holiday season. All are welcome.
