STA Set to Move

Offices Oct. 20-29

Sitka Tribe of Alaska will be closed Oct. 20-29 so staff may move STA headquarters to its new building.

Limited services will be available by calling 747-3207 ahead of time to make sure someone is available to help.

 

Parenting Program

Offered via Zoom 

The Circle of Security Parenting Program, a world-renowned program backed up by 30 years of research, will be offered to caregivers of children up to age 5.

The Zoom videoconferencing event will be offered in seven sessions over seven weeks, 2-3:30 p.m. Mondays, through Dec. 13.

Panel to Meet

The Sitka Tribe of Alaska’s Natural Resource Committee will meet 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, via Zoom. The meeting is open to the public.

Women of Moose

Meets Oct. 23

Sitka Women of the Moose will hold its Christmas in October annual meeting 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Moose Lodge.

Members will celebrate the children living at Mooseheart, the organization’s child city outside of Chicago, by having a monetary march raising funds for gifts for the upcoming holidays.

All members are invited to have holiday goodies, coffee and tea. For more information contact Cheryl or Faith.

 

Ocean Wave

Quilters to Meet

Ocean Wave Quilters will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at United Methodist Church and via Zoom.

Monthly meetings, September through June, are open to all, members or not. Those wishing to pay the $25 dues receive a monthly newsletter, discounts on classes and other benefits.

Panel to Meet 

The Sitka Fish and Game Advisory Committee will hold a public meeting via web-conference 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21. Due to the COVID-19 health emergency the meeting will be held digitally on Zoom.

The agenda will include: schedule meetings to discuss 2020-2021 Southeast and Yakutat finfish and shellfish proposals; comments to North Pacific Fishery Management Council regarding bycatch; and discussion of in-person Board of Fisheries meetings.

Meetings are open to the public and all are welcomed to participate.

Advisory committees are local groups that meet to discuss fishing and wildlife issues and to provide recommendations to Alaska Board of Fisheries and Alaska Board of Game. All meetings are open to the public.

Advisory committees are intended to provide a local forum on fish and wildlife issues. Their purpose includes: developing regulatory proposals; evaluating regulatory proposals and making recommendations to the appropriate board; providing a local forum for fish and wildlife conservation and use, including matters relating to habitat; advising the appropriate regional council on resources; and consulting with individuals, organizations, and agencies.
