Goat Hunt

Closure Told

An emergency order has been issued to close the Upper Blue Lake Zone of Unit 4 registration mountain goat hunt. The closure is 11:59 p.m. Oct. 3.

Breastfeeding Support

Group to Meet Oct. 3

The Breastfeeding Support Group will meet 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Yoga Union.

The group is open to parents of breastfeeding babies, and provides a free to share questions, challenges and suggestions.  The group meets the first Wednesday of the month at Yoga Union.  For information, contact Sharon at 738-4507 or unitybotanicals@gmail.com.

 

Winter Troll

Fishery on Tap

The Southeast Alaska and Yakutat commercial winter troll fishery will open by regulation at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11.

It will continue through March 15, or until a total of 45,000 non-Alaska hatchery-produced Chinook salmon are harvested, Alaska Department of Fish and Game said.

The coordinates for the winter troll fishery remain unchanged. They can be found in the 2018–2019 Winter Troll Fishery Management Plan.

 

Work Session

For School Board

Members of the Sitka School Board will hold a work session 6-9 p.m. Oct. 5 and 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Oct. 6 in the District office board room at 300 Kostrometinoff Street.

 

 School Board goals for the upcoming year and a board self-evaluation will be discussed.
