POW School Bus Lands in Ditch

A school bus with 17 children on board went off a Prince of Wales Island road on Thursday, after the driver reached for something that had fallen on the floor, Alaska State Troopers said.

No serious injuries were reported but the students were taken to a nearby clinic as a precaution.

The accident occurred around 7:20 a.m. on the 12-mile Klawock-Hollis Highway, with the bus going off the road and landing in ditch. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded, along with Klawock EMS, troopers said.
