Sitka Economic Development Association will host a program on the state of Sitka’s economy 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Harrigan Centennial Hall.

“We’ll be looking at trends in Sitka’s population, workforce and inflation,” said SEDA director Garry White. “Additionally, key industries such as fishing, health care and tourism will be discussed.”

Taylor Holman of the McKinley Research Group, of Juneau, will present the program on Sitka’s economic indicators.

White asked the consultants to spend some time addressing Sitka’s housing issues, which include the tight market, increase in short-term rentals, and high average costs.

He said he hopes the public will attend and take part in the question and answer portion, after the McKinley presentation.

More information is available by calling White at 907-747-2660.
