Sitka Fine Arts Camp’s upcoming show with the 6ix/5 Wind Quintet has been canceled.
Those who purchased tickets for this event can contact Sitka Fine Arts Camp to arrange reimbursement at 747-3085.
Flapjack Feast,
Open House at SHS
Sitka High School will host an open house and family flapjack feast Thursday, Sept. 5.
Classrooms will be open 5-6 p.m. followed by a pancake dinner in the commons, 5:45-6:45 p.m.
All are invited to meet the staff, tour the school, drink coffee and eat dinner. Donations will be accepted.
Harp Sing Set
All are invited to learn to sing four-part a cappella harmony in an American tradition 3:30-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Pioneers Home Chapel (or on the porch if sunny).
Beginners and listeners are welcome. Singing is from the red Denson book, and loaner books are available. For information call Sara at 747-2915.
ANS to Meet
On Sept. 10
Alaska Native Sisterhood Camp 4 will meet 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the ANB Founders Hall.
This will be the only meeting in September and will cover any remaining topics about Grand Camp, such as division of dues. The meeting is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend.
Candidate Forum
At Chamber Event
The Chamber of Commerce will host a Sitka School Board candidate forum noon Wednesday at Westmark Sitka.
Candidates Cass Karras Pook and Paul Rioux will answer pre-written questions and take audience questions during the forum.
The public is invited to attend.
Sitka Tribe Seeks
SEARHC Advisory
Council Members
Sitka Tribe of Alaska is seeking names of Tribal citizens wanting to serve on the Sitka Advisory Council to SEARHC.
The new council was established by SEARHC with the SCH/SEARHC merger. Two STA-specific seats are available.
Submit a letter of interest detailing experience and background that would contribute to serving for STA on that council to Sitka Tribe of Alaska, 456 Katlian Street, Sitka, Alaska 99835 no later than Sept. 9 by close of business. Mail the letter (so it is delivered prior to the deadline), stop by and drop it off, or fax to 747-4915.
The Tribal Council will consider appointments to the Sitka Advisory Council for the STA-specific seats at its 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 meeting. Those with questions can call Lisa Gassman at 747-3207.
