Lunch is $10 an order.

To Discuss Book
Sitka Public Library invites the public to join Alaskan author Heather Lende 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, via Zoom to discuss her book “Find the Good: Unexpected Life Lessons from a Small-Town Obituary Writer.”
The event is part of the statewide Alaska Reads program. A limited number of free copies of the book are available for pickup at Sitka Public Library while supplies last.

STA Judiciary Panel
Seeks New Recruits
Sitka Tribe of Alaska is seeking residents to serve on its newly formed Judiciary Committee.
Seats include those for a tribal elder, a tribal citizen-at-large and a local resident who has legal or judicial experience. The purpose of the committee will be to advise the Tribal Council on matters dealing with the Tribal Court, including the recruitment and selection of new judges to sit on the Tribal Court bench.

UAS Lecture Series
Continues Friday
With Zoom Event
The annual UAS fall lecture series continues 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, with a virtual presentation by Libby Bakalar, attorney and author. The program is titled “Speech, Advocacy, and the Constitution in the Age of Social Media.”
Bakalar, author of the popular social media platform One Hot Mess, will discuss freedom of expression under the First Amendment in the age of Trump, social media, and increased government suppression of ideas and beliefs. Drawing on her personal experiences both as a government lawyer and ACLU litigant, Bakalar will answer questions and talk about supportin the things we care about.
This year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Fall Lecture Series events will be offered virtually using Zoom. Each talk has a free registration link listed below, and also available on the UAS Juneau campus calendar uas.alaska.edu/calendar. After completing the registration, a confirmation email is sent with information on how to join the meeting.
