The Women’s Book Group will hold a Zoom meeting to discuss ‘‘The Book of Hope: A Survival Guide for Trying Times’’ by Jane Goodall and Douglas Abrams, 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.

Sunday School
Rally on Sept. 11
The United Methodist Church of Sitka will celebrate Christian education and Sunday school rally 10 a.m. Sept. 11 at the church, 303 Kimsham Street.
Ben White will speak and Julia Smith will give the children’s message.
Author and inspirational speaker (‘‘My Heart Rocks for Christ’’) Donna Sprague will tell her life and faith story at 2 p.m.

Chamber Speaker
Series on Wednesday
The Sitka Chamber will continue its summer speaker series noon Wednesday, Sept. 7 online. To register, go to sitkachamber.com.
Jacyn Schmidt, geoscience coordinator at the Sitka Sound Science Center, will describe the sitkalandslide.org online tool, a new resource for the community to make informed decisions about landslide risk.
Schmidt was raised on the San Andreas Fault on Ohlone land. She received her degree in geology from Carleton College and moved to Sitka in the summer of 2021 to join the science center research department, working closely with the Sitka Landslide Research Project.
Benefit Cruise
For Rotary Set
The Sitka Rotary Club is partnering with Allen Marine to offer a cruise on a 24.
The boat will leave from Crescent Harbor. Participants are asked to be at the boat by 8:30 a.m.
