With the number of COVID cases going down, Sitka hovered barely into the “high” alert territory today.
The rate of 105.60 is from the nine cases in the last seven days, adjusted for 100,000 population. It’s the lowest the rate has been since early July.
Sitka had just one or two cases a day for each day in the last week, including 2 for Saturday, 1 Sunday and 1 on Monday.
A case rate of 100 or more is considered high alert. In Sitka, that’s nine resident or nonresident cases in a week. Substantial risk (orange) is 5 to 8 in a week; moderate (yellow) is 1 to 4; and low risk (blue) is 0 cases in a week.
Most of the state is in high alert, with a few exceptions: Petersburg (substantial/orange); Wrangell (moderate/yellow) parts of the Aleutians (low/blue); Skagway (low/blue); and Haines (moderate/yellow).
