Sitka Man Found Dead

A Sitka man was found deceased in his home at 405 Monastery Street Saturday afternoon.
James “Jamie” O. Gorman, 30, was found around 4 p.m. by family friends who went to check on him because he hadn’t shown up for a dinner engagement the evening before, police said.
Police Sgt. Brad Wheeler said police received a 911 call from the family friends. Officers and an ambulance crew who responded to the Monastery Street address confirmed that Gorman was deceased.
Gorman’s body will be sent to the medical examiner in Anchorage, which is the usual process for an unattended death, Wheeler said.
Police are investigating, but said the suspected cause of death is a drug overdose.
Gorman was born and raised in Sitka, the son of longtime residents Mark Gorman and Nancy Knapp.
