Sitka Risk Level ‘Red,’ Vaccinations Continue

Posted

By Sentinel Staff

With three days of no new COVID-19 cases, Sitka’s rolling case average has declined to 1.21 per day.

However, since the 14-day rolling average is above 1, Sitka remains on “red” or high risk.

The number of current active cases is 1. In the last week, one new resident case was posted and two nonresidents. Over the past two weeks, Sitka has had 21 positive tests on the dashboard, five of which were for nonresidents.

Vaccination programs continued this week, through SEARHC and Harry Race Pharmacy.

SEARHC on Wednesday reported 1,550 first doses of vaccine had been given, with 430 of that number receiving their second dose.

“SEARHC has moved into Group 4 and is currently taking appointments for those 65 and older, all medically vulnerable individuals aged 16-64, and all essential workers,” the Unified Command news release said.

The SEARHC registration site is through covid19.searhc.org

Registration for vaccinations through Harry Race is:

Harry Race co-owner and pharmacist Trish White reported 107 people had received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and the pharmacy will have also administered the first of two Moderna doses to 320 by the end of the day today.

“Registration is now taking place for Phase 1a Tier 3 which includes 65+, eligible healthcare workers and long-term care residents and staff,” the press release said.

In other vaccination updates at the Unified Command meeting, Public Health Nurse Denise Ewing reported she is working on vaccine distribution clinics for February and the first week of March in Port Alexander, Point Baker and Port Protection.
