Sitka's COVID Caseload Reaches 88 in One Week

Sitka added 44 new COVID cases to its dashboard in the last two days, for a total of 88 in the past week.

The two-day total was from 14 positive tests Monday and 30 on Tuesday. The single-day record for Sitka is 41, set on July 21, 2021. The highest weekly count was 200, for the same week.

Sitka is currently in the high alert range, with its case rate of 1,032 – weekly cases per 100,000 people. Any rate of 100 or above is high alert.

The state has announced plans to change data it uses to define alert levels but that hasn’t occurred yet.

Sitka’s vaccination rate is at 81.8 percent for 1+ dose and 77.9 for fully vaccinated, for those age 5 and up. 

For ages 18 and up, 86.5 percent have had one or more dose, and 82.7 percent are fully vaccinated; and 44.7 percent have received a booster.

The 12-18 age group has a vaccination rate of 91.5 percent with 1+ dose; 86.2 percent are fully vaccinated. In the 5-11 age group 32.5 percent are 1+ and 27.9 percent are fully vaccinated.
