Sitka’s COVID case rate went up slightly over the weekend, with six cases added in the last three days.

The case rate as of Sunday night was 269.86, adjusted for 100,000 population, and based on the 23 positive tests in Sitka the previous seven days.

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services dashboard shows all of the six cases from Friday through Sunday were residents, with three Friday, one Saturday, and one Sunday.

All 23 positive tests from the last week were residents, authorities said.

The case rate got as low as 152.53 for the week prior to October 5, but eight cases the following day popped the rate up for the past few days. The case rate is far below the peak of recent months, reached on July 22 when the 2,346.59 per 100,000 rate was based on Sitka’s 200 cases the previous seven days.

Sitka remains at high alert, since the number of cases per 100,000 is at 100 or more. It will remain on high until Sitka has fewer than 9 cases in a week. The lowest number of weekly cases in recent weeks has been 13.

The cumulative case count for Sitka residents is 1,053, with 96 nonresidents. The cumulative number of deaths is 5.

DHSS reported today the following statistics on vaccinations for Sitka:

Partially vaccinated – 6,208 (84.06%)

Fully vaccinated – 5,851 (79.23%)

Total population (age 12+) – 7,385.
