Sitka added one COVID case to its dashboard on both Friday and Saturday, but none on Sunday.
That left the alert level still in the high range, with a case rate of 117.33, for the 10 cases from the last week. High (red) alert is for rates of 100 or higher. The rates are the number of weekly cases, adjusted for 100,000 population.
The community has hovered between the low end of the “high” range and high end of the “substantial” range in recent weeks. Sitka hits high risk when it logs 9 or more cases over seven days.
The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 80 percent of those age 5 and up (the population eligible for the vaccine) have received 1 or more doses; and 75 percent are “fully vaccinated.” Of the entire population, it’s 76 percent with one or more dose and 71 percent “fully vaccinated.”
