Three new positive tests for COVID-19 in Sitka were announced Tuesday and today by Unified Command.
The first confirmed case was a female resident, age 20-29, who was symptomatic and received COVID-19 testing on August 3, the Unified Command said.
The other two are female residents, ages 10-19, who were symptomatic and received testing July 31.
Public health officials advised Unified Command of the results Monday and Tuesday, and the announcements came a day later.
This week’s three new positive test results bring Sitka’s cumulative positive case count to 27 resident cases and 12 non-resident cases.
The Unified Command dashboard lists “1 total cumulative hospitalizations,” and says 35 of the positive cases are “recovered.”
The news releases said all patients who tested positive are isolating, and public health officials have “initiated contact investigations and will notify and isolate additional people that may have been in contact with the individuals as appropriate.”
