A 34-foot fiberglass boat was badly damaged in a fire at ANB Harbor Thursday night.
The cabin of the troller Golden Dream sustained about $50,000 in damage, said Sitka Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief David Johnson.
Another boat owner spotted the fire at the harbor’s transient float, and called 911 at 9:20 p.m. Johnson said the fire department responded with an engine and eight firefighters. They put out the fire and were back at the fire hall by 11:30 p.m., he said.
No one was aboard the boat at the time of the fire, Johnson said. The registered owner of the boat is Dora Eells of Sitka.
An investigation into the cause of the fire and other details is underway, he said.
