In the declining hours before the 5 p.m. filing deadline, Ryan Herbert became the fifth candidate for Assembly in the Oct. 4 city election, and Mitch Mork filed for Sitka School Board.
Voters will cast ballots for mayor, Assembly and School Board in the annual municipal election.
As of 3 p.m. today this was the field of candidates:
For mayor: Steven Eisenbeisz, Valorie Nelson, and Kevin Mosher. The mayor’s term is two years. Eisenbeisz is the incumbent.
For the two seats on the Assembly: Chris Ystad, Richard Wein, Thor Christianson, Kris Chinalski, and Ryan Herbert. Two will be elected and both terms are for three years. Christianson is an incumbent.
For School Board: Tristan Guevin and Mitch Mork. Three seats are open on the School Board and the terms are for one, two and three years.
After the filing period closes today the Sentinel will post a final list of candidates at sitkasentinel.com.
The final lineup will also appear in Monday’s Sentinel, along with an interview with Ryan Herbert, Mitch Mork and any other candidates who file prior to 5 p.m. today.
