Daniel Carroll Kilkeary
Services for Daniel Carroll Kilkeary are scheduled 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church.
Daniel died Aug. 5 in Sitka, at the age of 88.
He was born July 25, 1936, in Ontario, Canada, the son of Joseph and Elia (Delaney) Kilkeary. When he was 4 the family moved to Hoboken, New Jersey, and he became a U.S. citizen when he was 9.
He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1955, and served in the South Pacific then stateside.
He left the service in 1959, and settled in Brooklyn, New York, where he worked for some 25 years in real estate then opened his own moving business.
One of his pleasures over the years was watching sports – early on he was a fan of Joe Namath and the New York Jets, the New York Yankees and the New York Rangers.
He moved to Sitka from Brooklyn in February 2022.
Daniel is survived by his son Daniel J. Kilkeary, daughter-in-law Patrina Kilkeary, and grandchildren Leah, Stewart of Ketchikan and Rebecca Cropley, Elizabeth Hardison, Katherine Sullivan and Daniel James Kilkeary, all of Sitka; daughter Elizabeth Moskowitz of Quoque, New York, and son-in-law Mike Moskowitz and grandson Simon; son Michael F. Kilkeary and granddaughter Emily of Weehawken, New Jersey; and daughter Mary Kate Kutney and son-in-law Ron Kutney, and grandchildren Ian and Paige of Fanwood, New Jersey.
Great-grandchildren are Christopher Cropley, Michael Cropley, Julie Hardison, Khloe Stewart and Alice Sullivan.

Colliver donated the money after her business, Colliver Shoes, borrowed the truck to use during Moonlight Madness. The truck is in need of an estimated $20,000 worth of restoration work, Swearingen said.

Sitka Community Hospital Administrator Martin Tirador and hospital board chairman Lawrence Porter told the Assembly Tuesday about the need for a new hospital to replace the existing 18-year-old one. The cost would be about $6.89 million with $2.2 million of that required locally.
